What if you or others are undervalued? It's like a rational company deciding to buy back its own stock.

People enjoy "participating" by buying others.

It's a social thing.

You can hedge to some small degree.

People enjoy fantasy sports leagues - they're very popular. This is similar.

It's another way to compete, other than through backgammon, at a backgammon tournament.
