There are many games 'where luck is more important than skill' in the short run; most games that employ randomness to any significant degree.
There are many intellectually and/or physically challenging games/sports where success in an single event/tournament is far from assured, but the cream, usually, rises to the top, given sufficient time.
In backgammon, due to the limited number of events that most people can attend in a given year, the long run is several years, that is why having a rating system that overvalues recent results is ludicrous.
Please list a few Giants or players with low PR's that have played a significant number of matches and have a losing record.
