I am very happy with Gnu and I would recommend it to almost anyone, unless they want to do one of the 4 following things

a) faster rollouts b) want to study the backgame area with a bot c) want to post nicer looking rollouts at internet forums d) spend 1000+ hours of studying backgammon. And even in this case, I would recommend them to buy XG only if they successfully study 500 hours first because many people start backgammon but quickly quit.
