In the first one I would just spin the cube and not be too disturbed if the computer says it's premature.

As for the 41, I know that I need to study hit-or-cover decisions more carefully because I often misjudge them grossly. In general, I think hitting tends to win more games while losing more gammons and not winning as many gammons. Since we don't care about losing a gammon, that tips me towards the bold play. I would hit twice.
