I've never seen an actual definition of it either but if we call positions gammon save or gammon save like when the gammon value is nearly double what it is at a normal score I'd apply the same reasoning to come up with a definition for backgammon save. We only need to refer to these scores as backgammon save when the issue of backgammons factoring in to the equation comes up.
