bar/17 commits to playing this backgame. It might be playable. The timing is okay but as we've said before, the first thing you should do when you're in a backgame (esp. a really deep one) is look for a way to get out of it. Backgames should be last ditch options.

The opponent still has several checkers back himself with our 5pt being made. Minor pluses in favor of some forward movement. If we come out we get our two blots smacked around, probably have timing, and allow the opponent to trot around the board at his leisure locking up at least his 7pt in the process. If we hit a few good things can come about.

We could be missed in the outfield and anchor up on the defensive bar point. We'd certainly rather that game with the opponent still having so much distance to travel and so many men back then to sit idly in the 24/23 backgame. We could also be missed and perhaps hit some more blots of our own and get some serious momentum going. Lastly, we could be hit back and nearly half the time remake our 24/23 anchor game and go from there. Seems like a lot of good can come from trying to break free now.
