I would play 23/17 here. With so many checkers back I like to spring a checker while maintaining the safety of the anchors.

While the back game is the most likely scenario I actually believe the play is less committal than you seem to think. I can still see us winning this going forward. We have a lot of timing in the mid point and if we can build one more point, then I can see us winning a priming battle.
