Trying to open XG Opening Book

Let's be clear... My PR is nowhere near exceptional (avg 7-8) and the vast majority of my errors could be seen by a blind monkey.. xg++ is not required
... Any open class player would mop up the floor with me. I'm just noisy...
It should be easy to remove the assinine errors in play that open players simply do not make.. BUT it isn't and the longer you play wrong the harder it becomes. 30 years of incorrect play has proven this to me.
The process of unlearning is silly. You know you must play slower. So you play faster. You know you shouldn't race from behind but you do. You look at a play and say to yourself "this is glaringly wrong" and then you pick up the dice.
If there was a way to just stop being stupid (executing bad habits) I'm pretty sure that a 5-6 average PR is pretty attainable for just about anyone depending on whether your opponent fights back. I can be a cubetard (i.e. 13-14 cube PR this is how I fondly refer to myself) and approach this when I don't make monkey checker errors.
The 5 PR and under club (imo) require counting and calculation. I don't think you can play consistently under 5 without getting your error rate in cube play under control. You also likely can't make close to optimal checker plays without this in tournament play.
Still checker play out weighs cube play in the vast majority of situations and playing like it's dmp only gets you in trouble once in a while. In money play on BG Ace (no I don't click on the ace button ;) my PR sits at 5.9 something or other. So the difference between using a tourney MET and playing the score vs Money Play while significant is not as huge in practice as some analysts like to make out.
I think most of the noisy people on this forum that are mentally handicapped ,such as myself, are more interested in backgammon theory than winning. The competent players don't really seem to understand why we play stupid and simply appreciate it when we bring money.
When my wife and I discuss these types of situations the phrase "You can't fix stupid" often comes up. While I don't entirely agree, I think it takes a pretty big commitment to addressing poor playing habits rather than learning the correct checker play at 2-away 4-away.
