Don't read anything into the 4-cube. These positions generally originate from match play. The first thing I do when I study one of my match-play checker-play errors is to switch to an unlimited game. Sometimes when I do that, the cube location no longer makes sense and so I fiddle around with the cube until it's where I feel it "belongs." I don't pay any attention to what the value of the cube is, just whether it's centered or owned by someone.
