Is anything stopping any one from running their own giants list?

The name might need to be changed. I've seen many people saying that it is no good anymore, with some of those saying there is little chance of it getting better. Has anybody said they would actually organize an alternative? I personally don't like the PR over everything concept but perhaps the BMAB could be considered as such?
