Holding Game 22

With such a huge board advantage we can consider leaving blots, even by breaking our anchor and leaving a blot in White's outfield. Note, however, that the only rolls that force White to leave an immediate blot are 65 and 64. We don't want to turn White's anti-joker 64 into a joker 64 so the only play of this sort I would consider is 20/14 8/6. This could be O.K. but it does give White several good hit-and-cover numbers so I don't like it too much.

Advancing to the 18pt can be right idea even when behind in the race. Essentially, it "doubles down" on White's midpoint by reducing contact with White's 6pt and 8pt in favor of more contact with the midpoint. The candidate I would consider here is 20/18(2) 8/4. But here, I'm not sure we can win that timing battle. We will probably give up our midpoint before White runs out of time diddling with her 8pt and 6pt checkers, and if White rolls even small doublets then we will regret having advanced to the 18pt. Not sure, but I would be inclined to stay back on the 20pt.

Leaving a blot on the midpoint doesn't look too risky since White's aces are duplicated. If we're not touching the anchor then 13/7 8/6 seems like the best play in this category.

Finally we could try to hold both the anchor and the midpoint for now, with 8/4 3/1(2). If White's timing were worse I would consider this but here it looks premature to break the board.

I'll go with 13/7 8/6.
