I don't understand why "it would be very difficult currently to cheat due to headphones". Certainly not in terms of having a take points table playing over. Of course, one could examine such a table during a toilet visit, but such visits are limited. Memorising such tables is hard work for most.

Further, and just as significantly I feel, it seems to me that it is very unlikely that anyone cheating in this manner would be caught: how many players would really have the nerve to get the TD to listen in to the sound?

I do agree entirely with your opinion on the sanctions for a first and second such offense.

(FWIW the number of players wanting to use headphones against me has increased to three, and I maintain my 100% record of not attempting to oppose this.)
