When I was younger at this game ..oh maybe 20-30 years ago, I used to pride myself on what I call "Excellence of Execution".

Excellence of Execution doesn't mean that I desire to decapitate my opponent with one clean cut (I prefer them to linger and suffer a bit). It refers to executing one plays excellently. ie.. getting the most out of what you do know, and can figure out, and if you can't figure it out, do your best, while not being lazy and overlooking obvious things.

Here had I simply done a more detailed lookahead, I should have been able to see my homeboard being decent enough to really threaten Stick with a recube if he rolls mediocre and gets hit soon.

I know that I knew a lot less about BG and positions 25 years ago, but also that my execution was more excellent way back then than it seems to be today. One has to guard against knowledge making one lazy while not having the desire to do some work, cause one to talk oneself out of what he initially felt was a clear action.

So I hope to execute better next tourney as every match some lapse seems to result in a Whopper Supersized Meal screwing up what would have been a fine ER. I won't use age or lack of rest or whatever as an excuse. I certainly had more energy, both mental and physical when I was 21 than now 30 years later, but who doesn't?
