Lost info and GNU-bg rollouts from the 'hint' option

Chuck, your experience is consistent with mine. In fact just before I posted, I sent email to the bug-gnubg list about it and Michael Petch responded saying that as far as he knew, there was no way to save the "View Statistics" information. I think that's a shame, but that's just me. Despite MCG's warning that I might be going on a wild goose-chase, I feel that there is potentially some very valuable information in those numbers if we just think harder about how to extract it.
Stick warns against using "hint" to do rollouts, but there is one way that does work for me (on a Linux machine) and is the way I do most of my rollouts nowadays. I prepare a text file (let's call it "myposition") that sets various parameters and then ends with something like:
set gnubgid bBvhASKGZ/ANAA:cIkIAAAAEAAA
hint
cmark move set rollout 1 2
analyse rollout move
save position "myposition.sgf"
Then I issue a command like
gnubg -t < myposition >& myposition.log &
to run the rollout in the background. This does work, but does not save the "View Statistics" info.
