I believe that Bill Phipps bought a quarter of the draw sheet in one Masters event this year. And I believe he won the event. That isn't allowed in the Open. Obviously Bill is very strong and had a good year anyway. But, this practice certainly skews results. It is another good reason to avoid combining the two events as a measurement of performance.
