My pending opp for Speed Gammon chased me around for much of Saturday afternoon/evening wanting to play and frustrated that we couldn't bcuz I was just about to start a conso match. I asked him to talk to the staff to get it explained to him what was going on as I kept winning conso matches.

This is where you have to take the initiative, Neil. Remember, you are the one who is delaying the match -- your opponent is ready to play and waiting. Trade cell phone numbers and keep your opponent informed about your status. If you continue to have conflicts, consider defaulting one of your matches because you are unable to play. It is not considerate to expect your opponent to follow you around all day. And you should not expect staff to do this for you.
