I've never played hockey, never skated, and don't watch hockey -- so, I have absolutely zero basis for any type of evaluation or comparison to other sports.

With that qualification, hockey would seem to require a combination of athleticism and acquired skills well beyond the more purely athletic games of American football and basketball, in my opinion.

I have always been of the opinion that easily the most difficult task in sports is to consistently hit a baseball on the professional level.
