Without a shadow of a doubt when it comes to rollouts I'm poking around in the dark. When I first acquired a fast machine I asked around re-ideal settings for rollouts. It appears that no one could help or would help including Extreme Gammon ,despite the fact that even in those early days they have catered for fast machines. There are copious settings to play with but I found that XG did not take kindly to my ramifications and would on occasions not report my meddling correctly. Nonetheless I felt that if it was going to take 29 days to analyse a position it must be a pretty strong setting hence I was getting somewhere lol. I now have a method I use and am amending it if and when. Truncation and variance reduction are rude words in my world. It may be that I have stripped out some plays too early. I have experienced unchallenging plays suddenly climbing the list after four hours of analysis. I entered 17/12* 6/2* to kick off as I felt it would be an unlikely play. I was wrong it is holding third place but for how long. 13/8 6/2*,leads the way 17/8 (I like). This position is all about timing and controlling it. This is all very interesting stuff but at the end of the day getting the best play guarantees nothing when there is so much play. Bearing that in mind XG'S default shortcuts don't do a bad job, It's interesting though. I will let it rumble on for a few more hours.
