White's position looks to be easy to get to with two sets of aces and a double sixes.
Yes, White's rolls must be 6-6, 1-1 and 1-1. But that's 32 pips, and White must only gain 29 pips. Therefore he must lose 3 pips, and the only way for one checker to lose 3 pips is to get hit on the 22 point. Therefore part of the solution must include 1-1 24/22. And that's Michael Nielsen's solution. Bravo.
