Awarding of a ABT points

In Response To: Awarding of a ABT points (Joe Russell)

It's much better to have the ABT points awarded in the Open division equal to the number of individuals attending the event; else a director could devise a Blitz-style format where 20 players generated 64 entries.

When players attend events like New Jersey, the Chicago Open, and Las Vegas, they should be aware of the positives and negatives of the reentry format. The positives involve a bigger prize pool and the ablilty to win it all even after losing your first match. The negatives mean an extra expense to reenter and a tougher road to victory with fewer ABT points at stake.

Also note that everyone doesn't always have a chance to buy back. Take this weekend in New Jersey. They had 51 players and allowed 13 buybacks. So if you were the 14th player wanting to reenter, you were out of luck.

Moral: play faster!
