It sucks to go to a tournament and lose one match and be eliminated. Let's say we create a new tournament format that works as follows. Players who win advance. Players that lose are then paired against each other. Anyone who wins advances; anyone that has lost twice is eliminated. Such a format is no different from a standard buyback event in which all losers buy back. In this new format you'd clearly give ABT points based on the number of people and not based on the number of qualifier matches played. Why should buybacks work any different. The only difference is the use of the prize pool.
