whst it proved

I agree that 30 games doesn't prove a thing--we had three or four games with jokers for both of us that decided the entire outcome.
But I tell you what this proved to me:
1. That win or lose this game is the most fun game in the planet;
2. That Mochy is not only an unbelievable player--we already knew that, but he is a kind and fun gentleman and a great sport and deserves to be the No 1 Giant for all he does and is in addition to his skill. Working with him to set up this event and spending social time with him before and after is a pure joy and I feel lucky and honored just to be in his company;
3. Some may not like or enjoy Falafel's gambling and betting approach to the game (as one of the posts here suggests) but gambling is a big part of this game -- particularly when you play money games. Few people have ever brought so much passion and fun to the game as falafel, and Carter and it was great to have them involved.
Thanks to Tuvya's efforts the entire session will be uploaded to YouTube. I can't wait to hear the commentary and study my mistakes so I can learn from them.
And a very special thanks to my wonderful student and friend, Tom Buckner and his associate Bill Rosemeyer who funded the event and were so generous in throwing a wonderful victory party for Mochy after the event. Tom is one of those people who simply loved the game and loves hanging out with the players and lives to learn. He is what makes my backgammon life and teaching so rewarding.
We were all sorry that Howard was not well enough to make the tournament and this event (bad chest cold) but Troy and his staff did s great job. A special thanks and congratulations to Joe Russell for winning the tournament but also providing a lot of betting fun and personal friendship and support to me throughout the event. My only real success in the weekend playing wise was beating Joe in the first round (by joke ting him massively to do it, and it made me feel great to see him win
Just two days before the tournament started I posted that Joe and Steve and bob from LA were amazing players and will move up even higher on my giants list because of their skill and good soortsmanship and joe goes out and wins it.
Fabulous weekend. The highlight for me was having my son and granddaughter with me for several days. Life is good.
Thanks to all who donated to Mochy's charity--a great initiative to bring more kids into the game--one I hope the U.S. And other countries will imitate
