STICK: My doubles loss to Ray/Sassan still makes me want to stab myself in the eye socket with toothpicks til I never have to see shit like that again

RAY:

I was barely able to see it myself through all the toothpicks I had stabbed in my eyes after losing 7 straight points to go down 5-12*/13. I slotted the bar three times and got hit 3 times. In the Crawford game Stick slotted his and told Matt it puts a LOT of pressure on them, (meaning us). We missed... and promptly got 5 primed. We might have done the same thing to them a few times is my point.

From there, we got fucking lucky, that is all there is to it. However we made some world class plays in the process, AND, we did not waste the luck. We won.

From the it's sad but true file: Late luck is better than early luck because you don't need as much of it.

After the doubles finals I had a match with a guy from Austria who asked me to play for 1000 Euros. I had never seen the guy before but found out later he used to play in NYC alot. I am not afraid of people who challenge me for $$ matches after I have just won.

I was up 13-2/15. I lost that match when I never won another game. Backgammon can be a bitch sometimes. I won my next 4 matches in the consolation so it could be argued that I would have cashed in BOTH events against a HELL of a field if not for that loss. I wasn't playing THAT bad!
