how do you define a "public event"...i thought ABT tournaments were "private events".

A fair question, and I don't know enough about the tournament rules or the law to answer it properly. At the very least, anyone with an Internet connection could watch many of the matches online. That seems pretty public.

I appreciate the care being taken to respect the players' wishes. It just seems odd to me that this would even be an issue, and I'm happy to hear that for the vast majority of players it's not.
