Slotting the five point simply leads to getting gammoned too often without sufficient compensation. There is always plenty of play from the defensive two point, provided you give yourself a chance to take advantage of that play by not getting stuck on the bar."

I'm still an average guy, but "New Ideas" showed me, that there is more in backgammon then i thought. Here, after making the defensive two point, there is no other ace left then damage control. Every other move will be overplay.
