Thanks, Mike; interesting observation. I would not say that the safe 24/22 8/7 comes out on top here. It is rather tied with the two bold plays (well, at least one of them). Indeed, it loses fewer gammons, and perhaps it avoids several joker variations when white rolls a double, we fan, and then white is playing on for a gammon.
