Yes, highlights would make it more exiting. But at the same time you suggest to ban public access to most of the matches.

Imagine that, say, NHL decided to stop broadcasting all games altogether. Instead, you would be shown only highlights of several select matches. The games in their entirety would only be shown for Stanley Cup finals. Would that increase the popularity of hockey and draw more new players in???
