Thank you. Had to think about this for awhile.

Comparing to one of the basic reference positions - brown with closed board and two in the air vs white closed board and spares on 456 - we know that white wins 40% gammons. The difference must be some combination of brown's wins from hitting with the second back checker, and the fact that two checkers all the way back race more efficiently than four checkers stacked in the outfield. Surprising that the two are worth 10% extra gammons in the position shown.
