I'm neither for nor against baffle boxes. Personally I would rather not use them but I don't have many legit complaints against them. If I'm playing someone who is a functioning backgammon player (they know how to roll) there is simply no need for one. I don't like rolling into the top of the box. I don't like watching a match and not knowing who is on roll by what side of the board the dice are on. I've had people text me pictures before when they were using a baffle box wanting me to check XG for the answer and they say "How do you play a 64 here?" Who the hell is on roll??
