I wouldn't have known what you meant, either. Achievements, records, "continued awesomeness" and dominance count, but also charisma, fandom, iconic status.

Ali first, Ruth second. Owens over Lewis. Jordan over other basketballers. Woods and Nicklaus, a toss-up. And an honorable mention of Jim Thorpe in the subcategory of greatest athlete.
