Winning the world championship 11 times in a tiny sport is not as impressive as dominating a huge sport which is played globally by millions, imo.

By the same token would you rather be the best backgammon player in the world or the best chess player?

A couple of Danes have won 20+ world championships in speedway. I couldn't care less because it's a tiny sport too.

That's also my problem with Babe Ruth since baseball is predominantly played in the US. I think what Jack or Pete have accomplished has to trump Slater's accomplishments and also Ruth's accomplishments because they dominated the competition in global sports played by millions. I am also more impressed by Carl Lewis, Phelpps and Lance Armstrong (I don't really care that he was doped because I believe they all were/are so it was still a level playing field.)
