Clear the tough point?

Thinking about a play instead of pushing checkers around on autopilot is a plus I think even if it means you end up making the same play you'd have made 6 months ago 2 minutes later.
In this position what we need to do is imagine how our rolls play next turn after each play assuming the opponent simply makes his 5pt board. If we lift the bar point next turn we should have no direct shot leaving numbers and a handful + of numbers that leave only two indirects. Seems fairly safe.
If we clear from the rear 9/5, 9/3 next turn we have [65 63] that leave a direct shot. This is a big deal. Also, when we clear from the rear we only leave two potential builders for making the 4pt. While it isn't likely we fill it in it sure would be nice if we did and clearing the bar point will leave three builders instead of two builders poised to make the 4pt rather safely.
In general, with a big enough racing lead bearing in against a 23pt anchor game we try to lift the 8pt and 7pt early. If we wait until the last minute it forces our sixes and fives to be buried deep to super deep behind the anchor making the bearoff stage that much tougher.
Everything points to lifting the bar point.
