On conventional wisdoms

1) We are taught : Checker play is important, but could never compensate for superior cube play (thus learn your CUBE). 2) All else being equal, lower PR is a good prediction of future success (thus lower your PR). 3) On an average, PR is 70/30 dependent on checker play ( has been suggested up to 75%, I did just a casual sampling-yes, of 20 matches of Carolina's Invitational to get to the 70/30 assumption). So, there's more checkers (.70/.30) emphasis on improvement in PR. The question is: Is #1 and # 3 in contradiction? What would you do- is it a matter of specific weakness, or an another CW ( conventional wisdom)?
