Truncated matches?

once the field gets up over 50 players you have a real risk of needing 10 rounds. Unless you play short matches, you just can't fit that into 2 days.

Has anyone thought about this:

Plan a given amount of time for each match. Ten minutes before the scheduled end of the match, sound a horn. When the horn goes off you cannot begin any new games in the match. Uncompleted matches are scored as partial losses for the players based on a standard MET.

The advantage of this system is that it allows you to squeeze matches a little closer together without endangering the schedule. All matches can begin at the same time and one long match will not hold everyone else up.
