A better clock for backgammon

Not totally clear about your exact proposal, but coming from it, I like the idea of having a 15 sec delay, where you could add to your reserve up to 3 sec of unused time. That would strike a nice balance between conflicting factors. Those being, on the one hand, protecting players from timing out due to cocked dice, and not encouraging poor habits of shaking/rolling dice or moving chequers. On the other, rewarding players who don't piss about taking ages over a straightforward play! I think that the initial reserve time still needs some relation to match length, rather than x minutes for all.

Do any clocks have this capacity? I doubt if even the Chronos does. In chess, if they decide they need a new TC function, it will happen. A timing method was also added quite recently for Scrabble. Our game has no clout with clock manufacturers, however. Until a major game needs this particular function, it won't be available for bg.
