Robertie Advanced BG

Last week I picked up both volumes of Robertie's Advanced BG. After reading comment on BGO, I had expected some pre not era thinking and errors, but as I read more and check many positions on XG, it is clear that even some of his thought processes do not align with the correct play.

That being said, as a player who averages a PR of 8-9 what should I be looking to get out of these volumes? Are there particular sections that are still relevant relative to others? Should I be skipping these all together and trade for more contemporary works?

Please advise.
