What is the proper thought process in this DMP prime v prime?

It's DMP, and you have a 5-1 to play. How do you think this through OTB? I'm interested in the thought process, not what a rollout says. Do you try to calculate the possibilities of success for candidate plays? Should you forget about calculations and rely solely on memorized reference positions? I'm basically asking, what is the correct approach OTB to problems like this one?
Here are some possible plays:
A. Play 8/7, 8/3 and wait for White's board to crack?
B. Play 7/2*, 3/2 and hope to extricate your back checkers while White dances?
C. Play 7/2*, 2/1* or 8/2* and try to buy time to escape your back checkers?
