Thanks to all for your replies. I have read Douglas Zare's article on gammon prices several times, and each time, I missed the point that winning vs losing had twice the value of the cube (in a money game situation). Each of you implied it, but I failed to get the point. Thanks, so much, Sean, for your explicit explanation.
