I grant you that your conjectures are indeed probably true.

Nevertheless, I recall within the past year or three watching a streamed match where a current member of the USBGF Backgammon Hall of Fame, in a clocked match, called for a dice mix after each game that he lost.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
