I tend to agree with Bob here.

Once your opponent has made his 20pt, building an outside prime is difficult, if not impossible. The logical place for the five spares we have on our 6pt and 8pt is our inner board and 7pt. If we are not planning to move them there, then we are playing the game with fewer checkers in play than our opponent's have.

Making the 7pt safely will be difficult for us without rolling a natural (61, 33, or 11). Playing 8/4 takes away 11 from the list, but since it leaves a spare on the 8pt, while starting the best available inner board point, it looks right to me.

Making the 7pt would be nice, but barring a natural, or an awkward roll that induces us to slot, I don't see it as a priority. My game plan is to fill in the board behind White's anchor, and hit when we can. I will probably want to anchor at the first opportunity, either on the 22pt, or anywhere else.

Mike
