Thanks for your comments. Some replies below:
"1. When the error is very small, say under .02, I see no need to even list it unless there is a real error in thinking in the explanation. . . . "
I share your sentiment and have considered using a cutoff value, but I can imagine it would be confusing to study a flashcard and see that the answer is different than Trice's, even by a small amount, with no other comment. Also, completists want to know, so why hide data? Still thinking, thanks for the input.
"2. It would be good to know what Walter based his evaluations on (what bot and what rollout parameters) and what your analysis is based on."
Walter used Snowie 2 (I think) for the original articles , and we checked with Snowie 3 when preparing the book. I used XG2 ++ for first pass, and rolled out positions that caught my attention.
"3. When you say there was a very small error, can we really be sure you (and xg) are right?"
Of course not. :)
"4. Since you are the publisher and are in close contact with Donna Trice, why not do a reprint of his book with these corrections so that all future copies of the book will have it right?"
As I said, I'll include this error list in future printings. After some consideration, I've decided not to go in and re-write text. A significant value of the book is Walter's prose and I don't want to mess with it. Also, see your question 3 above.
"5. In addition to a flashback deck, why not create a PDF that people can download, print, and tape to the inside of their Boot Camp book for future reference?"
Great idea, thanks. I had only thought as far as including the list on my site. But I agree, I'll create a pdf that is formatted to the dimensions of the book. Nice, thanks.
