You asked as questions but in context it seems you think the answer should be no to both. I must be missing something because this makes zero sense to me. Stick knowing that XG screws the pooch in a certain position means he can play to that and avoid a big PR hit whereas another player might not. How can there be an XG graded contest where being unfamiliar with XG is not a disadvantage?
