51S21 - I'll do it. But why?

Agree. 51S-21$ is the biggest shocker of all for me. And while I'm always willing to try a slot against any opponent if its close (let alone best), I can't say I understand why it comes out so well. It seems to me that the split back men after 51S is the biggest asset. Why make the play that allows that asset to be put to the best use? What makes this play right other than "it just is"?
