Having 3 dead checkers on the ace point will make it very hard to build and roll a prime. There are simply too few checkers available for that. I suggest building some key points and going for outfield coverage while not leaving too many jokers is the way to go here.

Under normal circumstances I agree that the priming approach is correct if you have a ton of checkers back and no dead checkers.
