Another decision for Zeus, Chuck?

This time I think the coach actually got it right (and succeeded on the 4th down attempt), but the commentators were giving him grief for the decision.

Baltimore has a 4th and 5 on their own 46, 1 timeout, (Pittsburgh has 2 timeouts), trailing 14-17 with 3:31 to go. Baltimore goes for it and makes the 1st down with a pass play and eventually kicks the game-tying field goal. Both teams are playing defense better than offense compared to the 'average'.

Is this right and by how much? (Troy Aikman was groaning about it, but I think these 'old school' experts have a blind-spot whenever they have a 4th down on the wrong side of the 50, and never try to see how going for it can be correct.)
