I appreciate the sentiment, but... The past three years we've analyzed the full NFL season for 4th down, kickoff (i.e. kick away or onside), and 1-vs-2 point conversions. We've yet to detect any general improvement.

It seems (and now I'm definitely speculating) that when coaches get more agressive, the pattern doesn't last. Either they are simply basing their decisions too much (IMO) on unimportant/unsubstantiated inputs, or they are over-correcting based upon (very) short term results.
