Perhaps Christine Brennan, USA Today, said it best:

"Bottom line: You can be the most rabid Alabama fan, celebrating every minute of your team's first national title since 1992, and still feel that something was missing. (And if you don't feel that way, you're fooling yourself.) You beat Texas, but you had trouble in the second half defending against a true freshman quarterback who had thrown only 26 passes all season. You beat the Longhorns without Colt McCoy, one of the best players of his generation.

We'll never know what might have happened had McCoy not gotten hurt; we'll never know how this game might have ended. Injuries are part of the game, obviously, but this particular injury to the most important player on the field changed almost everything before some spectators even had a chance to find their seats.

You don't have to be a Texas fan to think that's a shame."
