That's a plausible guess, but it's worth verifying.

Why do we believe that rollouts are so reliable anyway? It's a combination of intuition and experience (e.g., when we roll out a position with a bizarre evaluation the results seem to make more sense, and different bots tend to agree with each other more closely on rollouts than on evaluation). Similarly why do we believe that XGR+ is so strong? Again it's a combination of anecdotal observation and Depreli's bot comparison.

At the moment we (the BG community) don't have much experience with 6-ply and 7-ply, only intuition. I think we should welcome attempts to back up that intuition with data, rather than assume without proof that our intuition must be correct.
