When you're at a certain level, any edge you can get you'll take. Again, you can't argue against the simplest example I gave. If I get a database of all great Player X's matches and notice how he plays all the replies to a 43D and 43Z and notice that he gives up more equity in the 43D replies than I should certainly be playing that when I win the opening roll with a 43 and it would gain me equity.
