Which is better: 54S-11E or 54S-11N?

Playing 11N has the immediate purpose of blocking 64, 65 and 66 when the back checkers have not moved. After 54S-11, 65 and 66 dance. It doesn't matter if you hold the bar point or not. The bar point has some limited immediate value on entering sevens. With this decreased immediate blocking value, the relative utility of N declines compared to E.
Also note another effect, the danger to 11E on most second roll moves is point on head third rolls 33, 53 and 55. After 54E-11, 53 and 55 no longer POH. And 33 only makes once inner board point rather than two. 11E follows the fundamental hit and split theme.
Your point is very important as well. For analogy, see 63R-33.
